WILLIE MITCHELL
Trumpeter, producer, composer, arranger and bandleader, born 23 March 1928 in Ashland, Mississippi, died of a heart attack on January 5th, 2010 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Co-owner of [l=Hi Records from 1970 to 1979 and founder of the [l=Waylo Records label in the 1980's. Mitchell also owned and operated the Royal Recording Studio in Memphis, Tennessee.
Brother of James Mitchell, stepfather of Archie Turner.

"Feelin' better, so much better, now I know that you're around" sang Al Green on “Glory, Glory”. He may have well been singing about his partner in rhythm and soul, Willie Mitchell. Never has a producer and artist gelled so effectively as that Green and Mitchell.
